The Barclays-BOOST Business Incubation curtain finally culminated in a colorful final pitch session held at Meikles Hotel on Friday the 7th of December 2017. The pitch event marked the end of an exciting 18 month program of capacity strengthening for young people who are between the ages of 18 and 35 with business ventures which are at least 6 months in operation. Having launched in May 2016, the program was a result of a partnership between The BOOST Fellowship and Barclays Bank of Zimbabwe aimed at supporting youth entrepreneurship through capacity building, mentoring, training and networking. This program was designed to help them strengthen their businesses and nurture growth.

The program trained 513 young people from Harare, Bulawayo, Gweru and Masvingo. Training was conducted by leading entrepreneurs and business men using a specially designed curriculum that triggers business growth and development. The young business owners were also mentored by captains in industry. Through the Barclays Bank of Zimbabwe Pay It Forward campaign the young entrepreneurs were engaged through thought leadership sessions with top business executives. The campaign enabled the participants to engage with mentors such as Angeline Vere, CEO of Telecel and Pamela Chiromo Country Director of International Youth Foundation.

The guest of honor at the final pitch was Barclays in Zimbabwe acting Managing Director Mr. Samuel Matsekete. Samuelle Dimaihro, a 27 year old businessman inspired the young business owners with a motivational testimonial of how he established and scaled up his business. Mrs Angeline Vere CEO of Telecel Zimbabwe gave the entrepreneurs practical advice on how to run their businesses and the required attitude, skills and mindset that will lead to success. The eleven pitch finalists exhibited their products and business potential through exhibition trade booths and presentation before a panel of five judges made up of top executives from Barclays Bank of Zimbabwe and top Managers from privately owned companies.
